Instructions
------------

This program sits in your AUTO folder, and does not become active unless
you hold down Control and Left Shift during bootup. Once the program
is active you have what is effectively a Mono ST, running at about 75% of
normal speed.
Please make sure the program is being executed rather early in the AUTO
folder. Otherwise, extensions involved in video updates such as NVDI
will initialize incorrectly and cause malfunctions.

Please note that the screen is only updated once every 4th frame.
Software updating the screen often and mouse movement will look terribly
jerky, but that's the price for requiring only about 20% CPU time. Then
again, since it's unlikely that you're going to play fast action games in
an emulated monochrome resolution, it should be still fast enough.
Software to modify 50/60Hz will still work, allowing you to switch to a
slightly smoother interlace display if your monitor can cope.

The software has been tested on the MegaSTE at 16MHz, Cache On, and at
8MHz, working well as far as tested.
Unlike the original MONO.PRG by Tony Hoyle, this software can no longer
be converted to the ST as it, naturally, uses the extended video
functions of the STE such as vertical scrolling and oversized screens.
